A visible discount badge does not always prove that a product became cheaper today. For example, a store can lower the regular price from $120 to $95 while the sale percentage stays the same, so ordinary discount-only analytics may miss the real price drop. Price history helps catch those cases by comparing the current tracked price with previous recorded prices, not only with the advertised percent-off label.

Is a price drop the same as a coupon?
